This has driven excellence in food production skills, a fact supported by the Gold-Gold M&S hygiene audit result. The wider cropping range needed to supply prepared vegetables has resulted in VP growing over 30 different crops, which helps make our farms more sustainable through better rotations, leading to improved soil health. Across all categories, over 1 million retail packs in various sizes are exported per week, totalling over 200 tonnes.

Vegpro’s core strength is our large-scale farming operations, which enables us to achieve better quality and service levels, and to support the more complex cropping range needed to produce stir-fries and prepared vegetable mixes. Today, VP has a land bank of 2,500 hectares in Kenya across 6 vegetable farms with 80% of VP’S raw material being grown on VP farms and this is fundamental to the success of the company.

However, smallholders still play a critical role in the production of Asian vegetables and pea crops. VP has a number of smallholder schemes, which are carefully controlled to develop consistent supply, quality and food safety.

Development work in soft fruit since 2010 has resulted in an exciting new soft fruit offer, now fully commercial with raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries.
